Soo... an interesting day today.
Start the day with Melanie, it was odd. Very childish songs, strange stories, but all in all it was pretty fun to mess around the entire chapel. She had some story about these kids 'being in the bubble', where these boys were almost the same as each other and needed to be their own person. This makes for a great inside joke, I used it several times today already.
But it brings up an important point. I cannot stand fake people. Be yourself. It even bothers me when people dress a certain way to fit into scenes, when really that's not who the person is. I dont like when people act a certain way around some people and then different around others. But most of all, I cant stand fake Christians. People who say they are Christians but have no foundation, people who act like and talk like Christians then turn and act like jerks, and people who are Christians but make no attempt to show this to the everyday people around them. I realize that everyone is a work of progress, I certainly fail all the time, but the point is to PROGRESS. So be yourself, but try and make yourself more like Jesus everyday, thats my basic point in this little tyrade.
You know your schedule is a little bit easy if you forget to bring EVERYTHING to school, but you are okay. That happened to me today, and it actually worked out. I wont push my luck though because physics is usually harder.
So, I have mentioned that I am a 1st grade t.a. I expected humor from this situation but I didnt expect to get it from outside Liberty. One of the kids in the 1st grade class showed up at the court club today, since his dad was working out. The kid's name is Jacob, and he tends to be a little crazy. So since he knows me, he decides to come and 'shoot'(if you can call a 1st graders throw a shot) on the same hoop as travis, victor, and me. Fine, I told vic and travis who he was, and when we decided to play 21 we told him to shoot on another hoop so he didnt get hurt. Well, he is easily distracted (even moreso than your average 1st grader) and ends up getting in our way a little bit throughout the game. No problem, I just tell the kid to stay at another hoop so he doesnt get hurt.
Well, then 3 other guys show up that I have never seen in my life, so we start a game of 3 on 3. Now its awkward. A little kid is coming up to me and asking how many points I have scored, asking if he can play, generally getting in the way for no reason. I am telling this kid in my best gentle voice 'Jacob, we are trying to play a game right now, so you need to go play on another hoop, so you dont get hurt.'
Are you understanding how this looks weird???
So I can tell these guys are looking at me weird, probably thinking "Really, this guy looks a bit young... but you never know these days." This happens over and over. Kid gets in way, I gently tell him to stay out of our way. Not once did I explain the situation. I am fine when people think I look older, I am slightly creeped out by people thinking I am a dad. Thats all I'm saying.
I went to the Chiawana vs Pasco game tonight. It was a good game for about 3 quarters, then Chiawana sort of blew it open. However, it was pretty tight to see Nick Tidrick get an interception. It's much more fun to watch football games when you know people on the team.
Notes from yesterday to wrap up this post. I finished up FYI, it was really boring and uneventful, but it's still weird to see 40-somethings in the same classes as me. I also found out that Homecoming is October 9, which is also the date of my SAT. Fun. Also, thats not very far off and I dont know who to ask. Also Fun. And today I found out some colleges want early applications in October. Very Fun. Looks like the next month will be pretty crazy for me.
